What accomplishments are you most proud of?
My biggest accomplishment is being a father to my 5 kids. I have 2 of my own and 3 children from marriage. I consider them all mine (their father is deceased), and I consider it an honor to be placed in their lives. I love the opportunity to watch them grow and mature into wonderful young adults. I have 4 teenagers at home right now, ages 14, 15, 16, and 17.
What made you decide to be a BankSouth Loan Officer?
My personal story, my family story, is one that is heavily influenced by the ability to own and buy a home. My mom and I, and grandparents, had a very challenging start to life. Being born to a very young mother, financial struggle was a part of every day life. When my family was able to buy our first home, a foreclosure, we were able to put roots down. We were able to put sweat equity and pride into our home. We were able to eventually sell that asset and use the proceeds to purchase the next home we lived in, and so forth. Owning a home was the first step in my family’s journey to a more sound financial footing.
If you could be anywhere than your home state, where would you want to be? Why?
I absolutely love Georgia, and Savannah has been my home for 40 out of 50 years. I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else full time, but I do love the mountains. I lived in Salt Lake City, UT for a year and fell in love with the mountains. If I had to move out of Savannah, I would want to head for cooler weather and mountains.
Do you have any skills or talents that most people don't know about?
My hidden talent is one that I don’t utilize much as I have gotten older… However, I can hold my own on a Ping Pong table 😊 When I was in school and college, I had a group of friends that loved to play Whiffle Ball in the good weather and Ping Pong in the bad. We got pretty good at both, but my sweet spot was Ping Pong. My son’s want to play me now and then, and I can still beat them, but they are getting really good now too…
