Departments

Loan Officer

A loan officer who specializes in home mortgages. Our Loan Officers are the face of BankSouth Mortgage. They network for loan opportunities in our communities, meet with potential and existing clients and help them in the mortgage application process.

Loan Officer Assistant

Supports a Loan Officer in the sales, servicing and management of their clients and referral sources. Prepares, collects, and submits documentation for origination of mortgage loans. They work to improve the customer experience by ensuring seamless coordination between the borrower, sales and operations.

Loan Processor

Ensures timely and accurate packaging of all loans originated by our loan Officers. Gather relevant client information and move loans from preapproval to closing. They ensure that loan documentation is complete, accurate and verified, preparing the file for underwriting.

Underwriter

Approves or denies mortgage loan applications. Evaluates and verifies applications based on supporting documentation and likelihood of repayment. Understands and follows company policies and procedures in approvals and risk tolerance. They prepare a careful, detailed analysis of the loan package to determine if a potential borrower will be able to repay.

Closer

Coordinates with the production, processing and underwriting to ensure all paperwork is completed, signed and accurate. Responsible for collecting, organizing, preparing and confirming the accuracy of all data in closing packages for the purchase of a home. A successful Closer is detail-oriented, has a great sense of organization, and is able to maintain accurate closing schedules in a very fast-paced environment.

Post-Closer

Assists after the mortgage loan closing process by reviewing loan documents for compliance, completeness and accuracy. Obtains any missing information, secures corrective documents if needed, and provides support to internal and external customers. They also ensure that loan packages are audited, shipped and sold to secondary investors per company procedures and policy.

Secondary

Responsible for the management and execution of interest rates, loan sales and pipeline hedging. Monitor economic conditions to maintain proper margins. They typically are very attentive to detail and are efficient at selling and delivering loans to investors.

Compliance

Vigilantly monitors and ensures procedures regarding mortgage loans meet high regulatory requirements, as well as agency guidelines and company policies. Monitors changes in the mortgage industry. They provide fellow employees with support for compliance procedures, along with providing management with actionable information, monitoring and recommendations.

Quality Control

Coordinates third-party quality control and appraisal reviews. Review residential mortgage loans to measure and improve the accuracy and effectiveness of our processes. They are responsible for continuous improvement efforts, reviews and root cause analysis.

Accounting

Maintains financial records and ensures transactions are properly recorded. Prepares general ledger account reconciliations, process journal entries, accounts payable processing, escrow processing, and mortgage payment processing and transfers loans to our sub-servicer. They analyze financials to find new revenue opportunities and to ensure company funds are used efficiently.

Business Development

Develop and execute the direct sales strategy for prospects, identifying key stakeholders, qualifying opportunities and obstacles, and building important relationships. Find and propose potential business deals. They work with marketing to create client-focused marketing materials and establish innovative ways to reach our clients.

Disclosure Review

Reviews all loan applications and changes in circumstances to ensure we provide accurate disclosures from our loan origination system to customers. Tracks, audits, verifies and prepares mortgage loan disclosures to be accurate and comply with all regulations and timelines. They have daily contact with all members of the mortgage team.

Technology Team

Develop, support and integrate business applications across the enterprise. Work with vendors, users, and cross-functional business partners maintain and develop the loan origination system and related platforms. They are continually innovating with technology that improves how we do business and serve our customers.

Human Resources

Responsible for maintaining our best resource – employees. Responsibilities include compensation and benefits, recruitment, performance management, and keeping up to date with any laws that may affect the company and our employees. They are focused on creating a safe, productive work environment where everyone can be their best every day.

Marketing

Responsible for building brand recognition, promoting our mortgage offerings, and educating home buyers and real estate professionals on home financing processes, trends, and options.
