Q&A with Jerry Fowler

What made you decide on a career with BankSouth Mortgage?

This is actually my second career and I have always been intrigued by the mortgage industry. I have bought and sold a lot of parcels and lots, so I decided I wanted to learn more and really understand the full cycle of the real estate business. My wife got into the business first and I decided to follow her. I have enjoyed it from day one.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

My goal in this business was to be the top in the industry, the diamond level of the industry which is $50M per year. In 2020, I surpassed that goal and closed more than $125M, which I am very proud of.

What do you like to do on the weekend?

Well I work a lot on the weekends so that my clients get the best service possible. But, when I am not working I enjoy going to the beach.

Bio of Jerry Fowler

Jerry brings more than sixteen years of real estate and mortgage experience and is a graduate of Capstone Institute of Mortgage Finance. He has also received numerous awards throughout his career, including: The Who’s Who of American Business Leaders for four consecutive years, the 2007 and 2008 Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia (MBAG) Gold Award, The MBAG Platinum Award 2009-2017, The MBAG Diamond Award 2018-2020, The 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 MBAG President’s Award, The 2009 and 2010 MBAG Future Leader Award and The BankSouth.Relationship Optimaization Award in 2015. Jerry is actively involved with the Georgia Association of Realtors (GAR), the Lake Country Board of Realtors (LCBR), MBAG, Lake Oconee Area Builders Association (LOABA) and Habitat for Humanity. In addition, Jerry also served on the 2007 Board of Atlanta Women’s Council of Realtors and was the 2008, 2012 and 2017 LCBR Affiliate of the Year.

Some of the main factors that affect the interest rate are credit score, down payment or loan-to-value, the type of mortgage, and how long the interest rate is locked.

The information below depicts average rates on a national level. These rates are not specific to BankSouth Mortgage but are provided to give a general idea of where rates are nationally for different loan types. This information is calculated from actual locked rates with customers across 35% of all mortgage transactions nationwide.
