What made you decide to be a BankSouth Loan Officer?
I believe my career chose me. I graduated with a degree in marketing and journalism at UGA. In 2004, I was hired to help a group of mortgage originators market their services to prospective clients and referral partners. I quickly learned the mortgage/home financing language. Understanding the basics of originating a loan was a milestone. Working with this group pulled me into the industry to help people navigate a process they could not otherwise access on their own. The ability to communicate is an essential skill for my chosen field. The desire to help people has always been my calling.
What are some significant drivers that motivated you to learn your profession?
- The impact I can have on a current or future homeowner’s financial future.
- The importance of creative strategy in an ever-changing industry.
- The opportunity to work with so many amazing people from all backgrounds and careers.
Who is someone you admire and why?
My dear friend Elizabeth was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer in July 2019. This extremely rare form of cancer affects 1-2 people per million each year. Elizabeth’s diagnosis was the result of self- advocacy in the face of misdiagnosis. Once diagnosed, she was told she would need to undergo “the mother of All Surgeries”. Elizabeth is a mother of two boys and manages a full-time career as an attorney. She fought HARD… and she won. Elizabeth is grateful for every single day of life. Her strength and resilience embody the everyday “Super Woman”.
Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up? Why?
At the age of 10, I viewed the world through the eyes of Walt Disney. The magic, the stories, the lessons all resonated with me. I was convinced I would use my creative talents as a Disney animator.
